Ways to Make Money on the Web - 3 Online Business Opportunities to Give You Recession Proof Income

Short and sweet, here's some of the best ways to make money on the web:

1) Sell stuff on eBay.

Yeah I know eBay has been around for a long time, but thousands of people make their living just by selling stuff on eBay.

A great way to get started is to find some stuff around the house you don't need anymore and do research online as to how to make a great ad on eBay to sell your old stuff.

You can also buy stuff at garage sales or dollar stores for really cheap then turn around on eBay and sell them for more.

2) Create a website (even a free one) and use Google AdSense.

Although this model has also been around for a while, there is still a lot of money being made by well-built AdSense sites and is one of the best ways to make money on the web.

Basically how it works is that Google creates a code for you to put into your website. Whenever someone visits your website, that code Google gave you causes ads related to the topic of that page to pop up.

If your visitor clicks an ad from Google, you get paid!

3) Affiliate marketing.

Affiliate marketing is basically when an affiliate (you) promote and market a product for another company such as Amazon.com, Best Buy, or almost any other kind of huge online store you can think of (as well as thousands of small ones!)

If the visitor that you point towards that product is sold, then the parent company handles all of the shipping and everything, but you get paid a commission on the sale.

The best thing about affiliate marketing is your earnings potential is limitless, and doesn't always require building a website or blog or shipping stuff you sold on eBay.

Simplified Website Promotion - Internet Marketing Breakthrough

Any business needs customers to thrive and prosper. If the numbers can be steadily increased over time, and be obtained from the so-called free methods, then it's so much better. But to maintain long-term success, the foundations of the online business traffic model needs to be strong and repeatable. I have found a simple strategy as the most effective; it is easy to understand and at a later date you can outsource the work to grow your business more quickly.

Google is the dominant player on the Internet; they control a high percentage of the traffic and many of the useful tools that we use on a daily basis. Trying the latest methods to get around the Google slap or the quality score or page rank or the duplicate content or whatever is only every going to be a temporary fix. Do it right from the start, build it slowly but with solid fundamentals and you will benefit in the long run.

A common method for website promotion internet marketing, your money site is to have a support group of web 2.0 sites, or traffic generating centres. Using the like of Squidoo, Hub pages, Twitter and EzineArticles to have links pointing to your offer builds the authority of your sites and Google will reward you with a higher ranking and therefore more potential customers. You should then send pings, social bookmark and submit your RSS feeds to promote each of your traffic generating centres.

A framework of 4 or 5 of these support sites linking to your main site increases the authority and strengthens the link network. The quality of links are of much better quality then the one often advertised at knock down prices. These are often on sites with no authority themselves. A few quality back links will quickly push you up the search rankings. Keep the linking lateral, in other words don't cross link from one niche to another, or even from one keyword phrase to another. Too much spiders web linking, will alert the search engine that things are not natural. Keep to a simple plan and complete the steps daily or weekly to reap the rewards. Constantly making forward progress is essential for success online.

You'll never have to worry about traffic if you continue to complete your website promotion internet marketing strategy in an organized and planned way.

Are You Ready to Start Your Own Home Internet Businesses and Make Money on the Net?

Are you ready to make money on the net?

Ninety-seven percent of those that try to start home internet businesses fail. 97%! They fail because they do not understand that home internet businesses are real businesses. So many people think that if they just find the right product they will cash in quickly and easily. It is not easy until you discover the following:

  • It takes TIME
  • It takes learning new SKILLS
  • It takes UNDERSTANDING those skills and
  • It takes ACTION

To be a successful internet marketer and make money on the net, you need to change your mindset.

TIME

What exactly does it mean to have the correct mindset to make money on the net? It takes time to establish a credible and sustainable internet business as it does with any business. If all you can think about is making money, then get a job.

Now you can make really good money eventually but it will take time, especially if you are a beginner. A beginner will have many new skills to learn. It will take time to build your list of customers. It takes everyone time to set up their home internet business. It could potentially take 4-6 months before you start to see any revenue. If you already have the skills of website creation, you can reduce the time you see revenue to maybe only 2-3 months.

SKILLS

For absolute beginners, you will need to learn the following skills:

  • How to create your own website with a landing page and thank you page
  • How to upload your website to the web using FTP (file transfer protocol)
  • How to use an auto responder
  • How to download and upload zipped and unzipped files and how to extract them
  • How to resize images
  • How are you going to sell anything until you learn to get traffic (visitors) to your site?
  • How to write proper articles
  • And much more

Do not let all this worry you. I learned it and so can you. There is plenty of free information out there to learn each step.

If you say you cannot do it, you are right! If you say can, you are right!

UNDERSTANDING

The good news is that once you learn and understand each new skill, you have learned it. You only have to learn it once (or twice like, I did). However, once you understand it, you have it and you have severely cut the learning curve when you start your next home internet business. Yes, I said your next home internet business. I have two home internet businesses in two different markets. However, that is fodder for another article.

There is another thing you need to understand about making money on the net. There are a few expenses involved in internet marketing. If you had a brick and mortar store, you would have overhead expenses costing you hundreds and thousands of dollars each month. For home internet businesses, these overhead expenses are extremely economical and negligible.

The three essential expenses you need to invest in are:

  • Domain name - about $10 per year
  • Hosting account - about $10 per month
  • Auto responder - about $19 per month

(I will be talking about each of these in future articles.)

You have heard the saying it takes money to make money. Well, with internet marketing it does not take much money to get you started. As you can see above, you can start to make money on the net for less than $50 a month.

ACTION

Now you must put all your newly learned skills and understanding into action. Honestly, it is when I put things into action that I really learn and understand. Do not worry if your webpage is not perfect, upload it anyway and get started. You can tweak it later. At least you have taken action instead of putting making money on the net off for another year.

The real secret to making money on the net is knowing it will take TIME to learn new SKILLS and UNDERSTAND those skills and putting it all into ACTION. Running home internet businesses is not for everyone. If you do not have the proper mindset, you will fail. I challenge you to change your mindset and join the 3% of internet marketers who will prevail.

Top Internet Marketing Strategies For Business Owners

If you are interested in making money online, you need to have your internet marketing strategies in place. These strategies ensure that your online marketing efforts are coordinated and planned towards achieving set goals rather than being random acts of online promotion.

The main objectives of various internet marketing strategies are to:

- Inform customers about your company.
- Do research about customer preferences and behavior of current as well as potential customers.
- Sell your products or services to your customers.

Here is a list of top online marketing strategies that have been quite effective for several successful online businesses:

1. Website: Most internet marketing strategies depend on having an effective web site design for your business. Your website is your online brochure that is the first interaction your customers have with your business. Therefore, it is very important that you have a high quality web design that provides credibility to your business and makes a great first impression. You must choose a domain name carefully making sure that it is easy to remember and at the same time stands out in the crowd. You must also select a web hosting service that is reliable and robust.

2. Online Sales Pitch: After you have a great web design ready, what you need is great content which includes text, images and/ or video content. Your website must have persuasive sales content otherwise most of the online visitors who come to your website will fail to get converted into paying customers. Your other internet marketing strategies that bring customers to your website will be futile if your online sales pitch is not effective. Make sure that you are able to gather personal information of your customers who do not buy immediately for a follow-up sales pitch.

3. Search Engine: Next, in the list of your online marketing strategies is to have a search engine strategy in place that helps drive visitors to your website. You must identify the keywords which have high search volumes but relatively little competition. Then, you must optimize the content and code of your website for these keywords, so that your business is ranked high on the chosen keywords. This should be followed by submitting your website to various search engines and monitoring your rankings. You will need to work continuously on improving your search engine rankings by using modern SEO techniques and adding high quality unique content.

4. Automate Your Marketing: It is important that you automate the process of online marketing efforts after you have established your web presence. When you automate your online marketing activities, you do not need to dedicate a lot of time for routine activities. Automation will not only ensure that you are able to convert maximum number of potential customers but will also give you ample time for researching new marketing ideas and reaching out to new customer segments. In order to automate your marketing efforts, you will need to ensure that most of your regular contact with your potential customers is automated through the use of automatic newsletter campaigns and auto-responders.

Of all the internet marketing strategies discussed here, the automation strategy is one that differentiates between businessmen who are successful in creating several different online business ventures and those who keep struggling to keep one online business going.

Internet Marketing Cycle of Communication

I've spent a lot of time talking with small business owners about the importance of setting up a blog, using social media, and sending newsletters to their mailing list. The most common response is a physical response - the shoulders droop, a sigh escapes from their lips, their eyes close in exhaustion. I can see immediately that the mere thought of trying to add those elements to their routine is simply overwhelming.

So I immediately launch into my "mothering" mode, comforting them and telling them it's all right, we all feel that way - but YOU CAN DO IT! Then once I have their spirits lifted and their attention... I give them a rundown on my Online Communication Cycle Strategy. And once they understand that - hey, this can be automated - they are on board with the idea of creating an online communication strategy for their business.

By Melissa Shea

So what is my Online Communication Cycle Strategy?

Basically it all starts with a single blog entry. So what can you do with a SINGLE blog entry?

1. A blog entry can automatically feed your Facebook Fan Page status which feeds your Twitter status.
2. A blog entry can be used for a newsletter article.
3. A blog entry creates content for search engines to index and bring traffic.
4. A blog entry can be submitted to Article Directories.

Ok - that makes sense, but how do I make time for a blog entry?

1. Set a plan to write one blog entry a week. It's OK to start small - you just need to start!
2. All week, keep your eyes open for content that is coming to you - industry newsletters, news reports related to your industry, customer problems you've solved, new products, company achievements.
3. Once a week, pick one of these items and just write about it. It doesn't have to be long, just tell your audience what you tell your clients. I bet you're sharing this information all week long! Just write it down!

Of course, now you have to actually promote what you've written. This may seem a little time-consuming at first, but that's because it's new to you. Once you make this a part of your weekly routine (or better yet, delegate it), it will be easy and you'll start seeing results!

To get your Online Communication Cycle Strategy up and running you'll need to put the following in place:

1. Set up a blog (of course). Use WordPress.org code to implement a blog on your current web site - do not use a the free version because it does not bring you search engine rankings for your web site.
2. Setup a Facebook Fan Page (for business) and a Twitter account.
3. Use the Facebook Notes feature to Import a Blog to pull in your blog article and post it to your status.
4. Link your Facebook account to your Twitter account so that when your blog article posts to your Facebook status, it will also post to Twitter!
5. If you're article is well-written and contains useful content, submit it to article directories. Other's will pick the article up, put it on their web site and bring you incoming links and traffic. The better the article and more timely the information, the more it will get shared.
6. Use the article as the content for your next newsletter to your mailing list. Add info about upcoming specials, coupons, resource links, etc, and ta da! You have a newsletter!

Obviously you'll need to feel comfortable with your technical skills to set all this up yourself. If that is beyond your comfort zone - not to worry - sites such as Coffeeshopreneur.com can help for very affordable prices. The important thing is that you get this setup so you can get started promoting your wonderful services and establishing yourself as an expert in your field. It's critical. There really isn't a choice in this new world we live in. The longer you wait, the further behind your business will be from your competitors.

Fake Online Opportunities You Must Avoid

If you don't know these things before you start making money online, you could be in for a world of hurt and disappointment. You will waste your time, lose money, and you will likely quit before anything good happens. Here's what you need to know so this won't happen to you.

A lot of people fall for traps and scams when they start. It's hard not too-they are everywhere online. Things you should avoid are multi-level marketing schemes, Google cash related products, and pyramid schemes.

Multi-level marketing schemes usually promise you great payouts if you get in early and build your downline. This generally doesn't work. Instead, what will happen is that you will waste a lot time and effort.

Some tell-tale signs of a MLM scam are 'guaranteed income', 'we will build your downline for you', and crazy claims about 'miracle products'. Other indicators are if you only make money by signing new members or if there is no actual product to sell.

Googlecash products, like Google Money Tree, are well known scams online. There are many fake stories about people using it to make money. However, these generally don't work and they often have hidden monthly fees around $70 or more.

Pyramid or Ponzi schemes are also something you should avoid at all costs. These are completely unsustainable business models that rely on new people buying into the system. Once new members stop coming, the bubble bursts, and a lot of people lose money. You can tell whether or not an opportunity is a pyramid scam the same way you would for multi-level marketing.

The saddest part about all the false hope these schemes are selling, is that they give people the false impression that most opportunities online are fake. This couldn't be farther from the truth.

The reality is that there are many legitimate ways to make consistent profits, and some of them have amazing income potential. The best place to start would be through affiliate marketing. This is a proven, safe and ethical way to make money.

In affiliate marketing, you sell other peoples products and earn 50% or more per sale. A lot of these products come with marketing material and instructions on how to sell. All you have to do is follow simple steps.

Places like Clickbank.com have many proven products available for you to sell. However, to be extremely successful with affiliate marketing, you will probably have to purchase some guides or training courses, which will give you a shortcut and ensure you have long term success.

An even easier way would be to do paid surveys online. Here, companies pay you to offer your opinion. A great place to start is at SurveyFarm.com which lists the top survey companies for you to choose from.

The fact is, there is no better time to work from home and build your financial future online. However, keep your eyes open for the above scams and stick to the legitimate methods. If you do that, the sky is the limit!

Making Easy Money Online by Building an Email List - Is Having a Massive Email List Enough?

It is undeniable that email marketing has been a powerful tool in any business on and off line. This strategy has helped a lot of companies to reach a wider spec of audience which led to an incredible and unexpected growth in income. The beauty of it, these institutions were able to create a more direct relationship with their prospected clients without forcing themselves into their lives.

And after manifesting a great performance in several case studies and statistics surveys, the popularity of email list building grew and has attracted more and more businesses, small time and big time, to venture the world of digital promotion.

However, having an email list alone would not guarantee you your spot to success. There are many tipsters out there suggesting the incorporation of such strategy, enumerating the perks of it, but without explaining how it really works.

Actually, the secret to email lists lies on its size. The larger your address list is, the more effective your campaign will be.

Seemingly, it runs on a simple psychology. Since email marketing involves sending messages informing your clients of updates, products release and etc., obviously having more email addresses would expand your exposure.

Plus if you have opted to obtain your list through the long way process of enticing your site visitors to subscribe in your publication or sign up for membership, you are guaranteed that your page will be a hot topic online.

What makes a list effective?

In list building, it is not enough that you have persuaded people to give you their basic info. Rather, what's important is to really build that beneficial relationship you have promised or else they'll be inactive.

Inactive subscribers are a waste of time and effort not to mention the millions of dollars you are spending for those newsletters.

It's not just about sending your subscribers raw updates about your products and services or your industry but also making every piece unique, intriguing and attractive. Sometimes, even the most important detail is ignored due to its lifeless and dull presentation.

It is not necessary to have all the pieces laid in your mail. You can keep it concise yet informative. This is vital especially when you're dealing with those who are tied up with their schedule at work. It's priceless to have even just a glimpse of their attention to your mail.

These people are looking for great content and so you must provide them with that or else they'll leave you empty handed. This goes the same with those who bought their email lists. As a matter of fact, I think you should double your efforts to impress these people since in the first place, they did not ask for your information.

Just imagine if you were in your client's position and you are served with an effortless postcard, will you not be pissed by such useless junk flooding your inbox? You absolutely will.

On the other hand, if you were delivered quality content, your faithful subscribers will on only make you the star of forums but also be recommended to their friends and families. This is where advertising saves our dying wallets.

Email marketing has been applauded for its stability to stand firm in spite of the economic meltdown. Besides, the cyber space caters to a whole new dimension of marketing that surpasses any traditional media in terms of convenience, swiftness and expanse. And taking advantage of this gradually prospering world would undoubtedly shield you from any crisis as long as you use it wisely.

List Building - To Automate Or Not to Automate?

It seems that from the very instant you launch your internet business, you're inundated with enticing ads from countless companies beckoning you to let them automate your list building for you. With each passing day, as you work tirelessly to build your own high-quality list, you ask yourself: what if I let someone else generate my leads for me?

It's a question well worth asking and the answer depends in large part on the nature of your internet business. It also depends on the company you're entrusting with your livelihood - or if you could possibly trust anyone else with your livelihood. It's quite a leap of faith, when you think about it.

Most internet marketers, if asked, would assert that those new to the game should at least attempt to do the hard work of list building on their own in the beginning. Doing this work will help these doe-eyed "newbies" truly understand what is necessary to build a quality list, what works and perhaps more importantly, what doesn't.

Still, for most internet enterprises that seek to make major cash, automated list-building is somewhat inevitable. That's yet another reason that those eye-opening first few weeks or months of learning by doing are so essential, since they can shed a little more light on what kind of company they'd like to generate leads for them. Do they want to work with a smaller shop that they can more efficiently manage? Could they trust a truly automated service or "bot" to work as their lead-generating liaison? How large do they need their list to get in order to be truly profitable? Armed with a bit of experience and the answers to these questions, the search for a list-building service will prove to be far easier.

New to Online Marketing? Then You Need to Learn How to Build a List of Customers

Many of the people that come online looking to make money make one critical mistake: They almost always set listbuilding on the side because they think that selling something makes money faster or that list building takes alot of time.

FALSE

Listbuilding is one of THE most important skills that you should know in order to make the cash that you want.

But, what is list building actually?

Listbuilding is the process where you ask a visitor of your website for their email address in exchange for a free gift, witch might be:

- a free report on something that interests them

- a free video about a certain problem

- a free newsletter about something

- free graphics, audios etc...

The key point here is "free". Now you might think that you can't make money like that, but you can; because once you have their email address you can follow-up trough an autoresponder and send them paid offers as an affiliate where you get a commission for every sale.

The more people you get to sign up for your free "bribe" the more money you can make when you send them paid offers.

But be careful, too many offers and treating them as ATM machines WILL lead to total failure, where you will not make any money at all because your list will think that you only want their money and you don't have any interest in their problems.

This is another area that most new people get it totally wrong...your list is GOLD, you have to treat it like that. You have to send free offers from time to time, you have to actually care for their problems and see what you can do about their problems.

List building can be very lucrative, and in time you will reach a stage where the words "push a button and make money" will come true IF you build your list right and if you treat it the right way.

As you can see there are a lot of stuff to be learned about listbuilding, but its not that hard if you have something to guide you along.

That's why I recommend you to go and visit this website about list building, where you can get a free report on the topic, full of information and more then enough to get you started the right way. Good Luck!

Internet Marketing Challenges - Helping a Customer Learn Why They Were Charged

The following Internet marketing article is about the importance of helping a customer understand why they were charged for a product. This is important because far too many Internet marketers end up having to deal with situations where a customer forgets what they purchased and later ask for a refund or worse - they pursue a charge back. I'm going to share a strategy that I try to use to always help customers see why they are being charged for something.

First it's important to realize that this process can largely be automated. I mention this because it's very important to understand that you don't have to be tied to your computer all the time. If that were the case, Internet marketers wouldn't follow this advice. So here's what you do. After someone purchases something from you, present them with a form wherein they input their name and e-mail address. Then, have an automated auto-responder system send the buyer a reminder at 15 and 30 days reminding them of their purchase and the amount of the purchase. You can also send the customer follow-up e-mails regarding other things - but also be sure to remind them of their purchase.

When you follow this advice you are giving yourself a tremendous advantage. People who buy things from you will be less likely to dispute the charges because you have made an effort to remind them about what they purchased from you in the first place. And, as you have noticed, we do this in an automated way.

How to Turn Your Internet Business Mistakes to Your Advantage

Most if not all entrepreneurs make mistakes on their path to online business success. A difference of attitude is what separates a successful online entrepreneur and one who fails. A successful entrepreneur turns his mistakes into stepping stones that help him get where he wants to go. The other turns his mistakes into stumbling blocks that prevent him from getting anywhere at all. One entrepreneur reacts to mistakes with frustration and defeat, and the other responds with a desire to learn, improve, and move on.

How should you handle it when you make a mistake with your online business? Here is a 5-step approach:

1. Recognize that you have made a mistake, but do not brand yourself as a failure. You probably know all about mistakes as an internet entrepreneur. They are very easy to make! This is especially true if you started your online business as a complete newbie. There are some people who give up after making just one or two mistakes. Do not be one of them!

2. Consider your mistake as an opportunity to learn from it. As soon as you can admit your mistake without letting it get the best of you, you will be able to learn and benefit from it.

3. Study where you went wrong. What was the nature of the mistake? Was your mistake due to your carelessness, lack of research, or was the trouble caused by something beyond your control?

4. Figure out a solution to your problem, or start again from scratch. What can you do to fix the mistake or prevent it from happening again?

5. Teach others how to avoid the mistake. Once you get it right, use the experience as part of your team training. This will strengthen your impact as a trainer and strengthen your team. Use the lessons you learn from your mistakes as material for e-books, videos, lectures and courses, and build up a following among other online entrepreneurs.

The key to handling mistakes is to adopt the attitude of "live and learn." Maintain a positive attitude through the inevitable setbacks and remember what Napoleon Hill wrote:

"Every failure brings with it the seed of an equivalent advantage."

If you can learn from your internet marketing business mistakes and keenly seek out the "equivalent advantage," you will find that your online business will continue to move forward and grow stronger.

So, adopt a positive attitude towards your mistakes when they inevitably occur. Do not make excuses or seek to avoid responsibility. Step up to the plate and find out what you can learn from whatever business mistake it is that has been made and seek out the "equivalent advantage" that the business mistake brings with it.

Internet Marketing Insights - Figuring Out Why Customers Don't Buy

The following Internet marketing article is going to talk about the need for Internet marketers to try and figure out why customer's don't buy. When you think about it, this is an incredibly important piece of information that can be used to potentially make more money. How? Because when you are able to figure out why a customer isn't buying, you can make some modifications and have an opportunity to make more sales. So let's talk about the strategy that I use to figure this information out.

The first step is to develop a list of prospective customers. When I talk about a list like this, I mean an e-mail mailing list. Next, you send them an offer. Here's where it gets interesting. Calculate the total number of people who have actually opened your e-mail and clicked-through to the sales page. If you're making the sales pitch within the e-mail itself, then you need only concern yourself with the number of people who have opened your e-mail. Next, tabulate what percentage of people who have seen your sales message made a purchase. This is known as your conversion rate. Finally, you can send a follow-up e-mail to the people on your e-mail mailing list who did not purchase. Ask them why they didn't buy.

By following this advice, you will be giving yourself a chance to learn more about why some of your customers did not buy from you. Not everyone will answer when you send them an e-mail, but you can learn a lot even from a handful of responses.

Tips on Using Internet Marketing For Online Business

For success in any kind of business, there is a need to market your products and services. Without it, people will not know about your business or the products and services that you offer. For online business, internet marketing is the best way to go. Here are some tips on using internet marketing for online business.

Marketing online is different from marketing in the real world. With the cost of setting up an online business being so low, there is a lot of competition. Getting your website known without marketing can be difficult.

Internet marketing for online business means you have to generate targeted traffic to your website. The chances of selling your products or services is much higher with traffic that is targeted. It is no point just getting anyone surfing the net to your website. There must be something on your website that is of interest to them. Otherwise, they will not be buying anything. So, you need to filter the people entering your website.

Having said that, how do you generate targeted traffic?

Writing articles is one of the best ways to attract targeted traffic to your site. Why is this the case?

The articles that you write will be about the products and services that you are selling. You then submit these articles to online publishing sites. People interested in your topics will read your article and if they like it, they will be attracted to your website. Of course, your article will contain the link back to your site.

Once they are at your website, if they like the products or services that you offer, they may buy from you. It is very crucial that your article gives them enough reason to link to your website.

Another way to get targeted traffic is by participating in forums related to the products or services that are sold through your website.

These forums will have people raising questions and since you are knowledgeable in this area, you may be able to answer some of these questions. This way, you get to be known as an expert in the forum, and the forum members may want to find out more about what is on your website.

Note that forums are not for you to market your products, but you can include your website address as part of your signature. Forums have their own rules regarding this. So watch out for this.

This again attracts only people interested in the contents of your website and is targeted traffic. And they are people who may buy.

Internet marketing for online business is conceptually easy to understand but implementing it takes proper guidance. Internet Marketing Knowledge - Making Yourself Look More Friendly

One of the secrets to making more money as an Internet marketer is to make yourself look more friendly. This article will discuss a strategy that I use to help convey that I am a friendly individual. This is incredibly important because the Internet marketing industry revolves around people doing business with those who they know, like, and trust. So the more friendly you appear, the better your chances of making more money as an Internet marketer.

My strategy is fairly simple. It involves including a picture of myself smiling on as many customer-facing pages as possible. Don't laugh! I know this probably seems very basic and laughably ordinary. But think about this for a moment. A photo has a tendency to humanize you. If you're smiling in the photo, that's even better because you appear more friendly. Ultimately, the secret is to appear as friendly as possible. Will everyone like you? Of course not. But the idea here is to boost your chances of appearing more friendly.

I highly recommend that you at least consider including a photo of yourself on your various web pages. To the extent you're a bit camera shy, I have a suggestion. See if you can submit a photo of yourself to a website that will convert your photo into a cartoon-like character or otherwise turn it into a sketch drawing. It's still you, but at least you're not under such a microscope. By following this advice, you will be improving your chances of making yourself look more friendly.

Start an Online Business Without Risking Your Savings

The fear of losing your own savings is one of the reasons many people don't start their own business. Thankfully, it is possible to start and online business without the need for investing any money at all.

An online business doesn't have all the initial investment costs of a traditional business. It also doesn't require substantial running costs during operation, all of which can add up to many thousands of dollars even before there is any chance of making a profit.

Choosing a business to start is often a problem and many people think that for an online business you have to be totally original.

While it is common to think this way it is totally false. Starting an online business doesn't require that you discover the newest internet craze. In fact, following that course involves a far greater risk.

The truth is that it is a much safer decision to not do anything original, but just copy what has been done before and proven to work.

I personally believe that newcomers should concentrate on affiliate marketing. That means that they sell products for other companies and get paid a commission. In fact, you don't actually sell, rather direct customers to the company's web site where they make their purchase.

No stock to buy, no employees to pay and not even any customers to deal with. Affiliate marketing is a very simple business model and yet, the potential earnings can be massive for those prepared to do the work.

Make no mistake about it. Tho be successful you must work but it isn't a difficult talk to learn how to promote products without spending money yourself.

For many people, receiving that first payment online is a moment they wont forget and signals the start of a profitable business.

How to Choose the Best Web Host Guaranteed - 3 Great Tips

When you start any sort of venture online one of the biggest decisions you will make is which web hosting service you should choose. If you opt for an established and creditable Internet Service Provider (ISP) it should be plain sailing. However, if you choose a poor web hosting provider it can result in frustration.

The following points can act as a guide as to which web host you choose.

How much space do you require on the web hosts server?: Once you know what you want you can decide how much web space you require. Also, if you want a simple site today is their scope with your web host provider to develop your site into a larger version at a future date if you so wish?

FTP function: In order to upload web pages to the internet you must have FTP access. This "File Transfer Protocol" is imperative although some web host providers do have their own web page builders which some people find useful. If you are one of these people, do make sure that your web host provider has the capacity to expand your site when you decide to increase the number of pages later.

Degree of safety, speed and dependability: Supposing you visited a site for the first time and it was down - what would you do? You would simply click onto some other site and never visit the original one again. If the site you visited did upload but was very slow at changing pages wouldn't you find this irritating? If security is overlooked it could prove disastrous.

So how do you choose which web host to go with?

Cheap Host - Will You Go For One?

Perhaps one of the most difficult decisions that you have to make is whether or not to go for the services of a cheap host.

Web hosting service providers now come in all budget sizes, but sometimes, it is pretty normal to be concerned about the cheap web hosting companies and those that offer their services for free. You must have heard many negative feedbacks about such companies, and now you must be in doubt.

The truth is, just because a certain web hosting company is offering its services at an unbeatable price, it does not mean that it is not reliable. There are always exceptions to the rule even when it comes to web hosting.

Although they may be rare, cheap web hosting service providers do exist. You need to look carefully, though, in order to find the right one. Some salient points to remember when searching for an affordable web host are reliability, customer service, and disk space and bandwidth.

Now how can you tell if your host is reliable? There are a few tests you can actually do to find it out. One is to test its customer service. Even if you are not paying a lot of money, you still deserve to be treated professionally. A good host is readily available any time of the day, even on weekends and holidays. It must be able to respond to your concerns quickly. After all, there may be times when your website will experience and so you must be able to contact your web host when it happens even during unholy hours.

Another way you can say that your host is reliable if it offers an uptime percentage of 99% and up. The best ones are able to provide you with 99.99% uptime percentage, but as long as the number does not go below 99%, that's already good enough. Uptime percentage is the amount of time that your website becomes visible on the World Wide Web. When your site experiences downtime frequently, it only indicates that you don't have a very reliable web host. It would be better then to change hosts now before you lose all your data, customers, and money.

Most professional web hosting companies offer unlimited disk space and bandwidth, but this may not be so with a cheap service provider. Some providers may offer around 5GB of disk space that may be enough if you are operating a personal web site, which does not require a lot of space.

Usually, web host review sites are the best places where you can find all the necessary information about the cheap web hosting companies out there. It is here where you can see a comparison of each of the companies' varied features, so choosing from among them need not be a painful exercise.

Another reliable source of information is technological forums and communities. These are places where you can get to meet and interact with IT professionals, and obtain expert advice. At the same time, making a random search of customer testimonies can also assist you in your decision

What You Need to Know About Domain Name Registration and Web Hosting

When you are setting up a website for the first time, in addition to having it hosted on the web by a web hosting company, you need to have your domain name registered so you have an actual address on the Internet and you can make sure that your website's name is secure. While there are separate services that will do domain name registration, if you are just setting up your website and are shopping around for web hosting companies, chances are you can find a hosting package that includes domain name registration along with the hosting costs.

There are domain web hosting plans that include hosting, domain registration along with other tools for designing your website. This is especially a good plan to go with if you have a personal or small business website and you want to get it up on the Internet with as little fuss and bother as possible. This includes the fees for all of this in one easy payment structure rather than having to pay a separate fee for each service. Some web hosting companies that offer hosting for as little as $20 and many will offer you a substantial discount if you offer to pay for a year's worth of service in advance. That is something to keep in mind as you budget for your website.

Another advantage to hosting is that it usually offers many features that may be important to you or your small business. These can include maintenance tools and tools for managing storage and bandwidth. If you are running an e-commerce website, you are bound to be running a software program that is managing all your transactions and keeping your records straight. A hosting plan can make sure you have access to all of the tools you need in order for your website to be successful, whether it is just a personal website or a large scale website for business purposes.

Web hosting provides you with everything you need to get started and to continue having a presence on the web. While the use of the features is up to you as an individual, you should allow for some flexibility in terms of storage space because you want there to be room for your website to grow as your small business grows. Hosting companies usually provide flexible plans that allow you to add on as your functionality needs grow. You get your domain name registered and your website hosted for one convenient fee. It's a solution that thousands are turning to for their web hosting needs.

What You Need From A Web Host When You Are Starting An Internet Business

You have racked your brain. After lots of hard work your website is ready. Now your web site needs a home. While building and designing your web site it sits on your computer, on the hard drive. You can test it, tweak it and see it there, but nobody else can!

For it to be visible on the World Wide Web it needs to be on a computer that is connected in technically fast, secure and stable ways onto the internet. That kind of computer is called a server, and a company that provides this service is called a Host the service is called hosting.

Choose the wrong host and you are in trouble!

The hosting company owns many servers that serve up web pages to the search engines or to whoever types your domain name into the address bar of their browser program or clicks on the link for your domain name.

It is crucial that your server is reliable and fully functioning nearly 100% of the time. Technical support for the server and for you the user is the single most expensive item for the host company. If they save money there the server may perform poorly or even crash and the customers are left with poor service and support

For the sake of saving a few measly dollars many intelligent webmasters / business owners make the mistake of using a cheap host. They even feel smart about this until they get burnt!

Hosting Tips for Beginners To Internet Business

1. No technology is perfect. There are likely to small problems affecting performance in all hosts. But you need a very high uptime-most hosting companies will claim 99% or 99.9% uptime some will claim 100%.

2. Sufficient room for your web site. Files take up memory space on your drive before they are copied to the server. They take up server space once you have transferred them- enough space for us is probably 2 MB

3. Decent bandwidth-remember you want thousands of people to see your site. Each time your site is seen the server has to work. Practically speaking the bandwidth is a measurement of how many people can see your web pages. Some hosts claim "Unlimited Bandwidth" but really this is nonsense, such a claim is hype. A real number may be 2 GB per month

4. You want a company with sound finances. Lots of hosts go out of business by offering free or cheap hosting. You want a stable viable company that will be around as long as you will. Changing hosts is no joke; this is something you want to get right the first time (like marriage!)

5. You may not think that it is important in the beginning but you need a hosting plan which will allow you to host more than one website. At the beginning one website seems as daunting as a marathon race but after you have created your first website you will probably start getting ideas for your second website. Your hosting plan must allow you to grow!

6. I have left the most important requirement for a Newbie till last! It is support. We are Newbies. We are intelligent and hardworking, not dummies or idiots but we require proper support. Every Host will claim that their support is great-how would you find them saying that their support is rubbish? But if you look at the web sites of host companies you find different types of support

I list here the kinds of support provided with my comments:

• Knowledge base- fancy words for a few pages of other peoples questions. This is usually useless

• Ticket System-a way for a company to spend less on telephone support and provide you with slow, half baked answers

• Instant Chat-not much different from the ticket system. The customer support person is handling many requests at the same time, how good do you think that makes the answers you get?

• Telephone Support-now we're talking! Sorry about the pun! There are two types of Telephone support; General Customer Support-often about Billing and general questions and Technical Support.

My strongest recommendation is for you to choose a host who provide Telephone Technical Support. Some do this only in Office hours. Check what time zone they are in and that this fits your hours.

Very very few provide 24/7 Telephone Technical Support.

Now it could easily be that a host that provides good Newbie friendly customer support falls down in other ways Choosing a host is difficult but we got to do it! Just think about how difficult it is to find and choose a good home for your family. If you can do that you can find a good home for your web sites too!

Make sure you phone them and see how they treat you!

Notice that I used the plural, "web sites" Congratulations on starting your internet business and publishing your first web site but nobody makes a living from one web site. A real solid business will have second and third and more income streams, although you have to start with one website and focus on it until it works. This makes your decision about web hosting even more important. Using these hosting tips will give you solid support and help not just in starting your internet business but for years to come.

Home Based Internet Marketing Businesses Stumbling Block - Feeling Overwhelmed

I work with so many different people...in a lot of different home based internet marketing businesses...and I hear from people all the time they are feeling overwhelmed. This is a HUGE stumbling block for them...they are worried that they can't do it all.

If you are one of these people, I will tell you that you are right!

You absolutely, positively cannot do everything. It will not happen.

You have to make choices. It doesn't matter what business you are in...whether it is online or brick-and-mortar! So you start in one spot and figure it out. Really, it's a matter of decision making. Decide that you are going to figure it out.

And recognize right now that there are going to be times that you will be frustrated. Times that you will be confused.

Heck, I get frustrated and confused every single day! Sometimes I get frustrated by the technology...because stuff happens. Life goes on...you keep moving forward.

Realize that it's fine. When you talk about not being able to do something and things not being perfect right from the start, remember they never will be. You'll always have a learning curve. No matter how long you are at this, you will have a learning curve, because there is always something new to learn!

Make your plan and go for it! Work on it for a few hours every single day. I guarantee, in a week or two or a month, you'll have it figured out.

In the meantime, you can have something up today that will be good enough! Does MicroSoft wait until their products are perfect before they launch? No! They launch when they are "good enough" and then they revise and update. So if that process is good enough for Bill Gates then it is good enough for me!

If you try to wait until it is perfect, you will never get anything done. Same thing is true if you try to wait until you understand it all. Not only will you not get anything done-a lot of it will change while you are busy trying to learn it all! Talk about frustrating!

Outsource some of the stuff that frustrates confuses you. It is good to have a general idea of what is going on...but that doesn't mean I try to master everything! Nobody can do that. That is why I have an excellent team-so they can do what they are good at and I get to do what I'm good at.

Right now...especially in the beginning when it seems like everything is new...just keep putting one foot in front of the other. That is really all it takes.

Sometimes, you'll be confused. Sometimes, you'll be frustrated. Sometimes things won't work perfectly. That's just part of life. That's part of everything.

How you deal with it is your choice. Are you going to laugh it off and keep moving forward or are you going to let it be a stumbling block that stops you dead in your tracks? I recommend that you make a joke out of it and move forward.

When you do that, then you set yourself up for the times when things do go right in your home based internet marketing businesses--when you do understand and things are crystal clear. Because, you know what? That's part of life, too!

Small Business Marketing - 4 Key Facts That Local Businesses Must Know About Online Marketing

Do you have a local brick and mortar business? Do you have a website? If so, you may have been disappointed in its lack of performance. You may even feel that it's not worth your while getting involved with online marketing. Read on for three secrets you must know about online marketing for offline businesses.

1. You must have an online presence

It used to be that people who wanted something would just pick up the yellow pages and let their fingers do the walking. Well, their walking fingers now head for the keyboard of their computer -- and they'll do their research online. If you're not there, chances are they won't find you.

2. Your online presence must be set up correctly

So you do have a website, you say, but it's doing squat for you. There's a likely reason for that. It's not optimized to be found by your customers. How so? There was a time when people thought if you built a website, people would find it. That may have been the case for a lucky few, especially in the old days where there was little competition, but it's no longer true. You must be on the first page (or at the very least the second page) of Google for the kinds of keywords that your customers are going to use to find businesses like you.

3. You need to support your online presence with information marketing

Not only do you need a website that can be found, but you need a blog, and you should do other kinds of marketing, including social marketing, and publishing articles in article directories, all of which will send visitors to your website and help your page rank in Google.

4. You must capture your leads

If you have no way to capture the leads that come your way, you're wasting your time. Sorry if this sounds harsh. The good news is that it's not that hard to capture leads. Give your visitors a simple sign-up form and a reason to give you their name and email address, and quite a few of them will sign up -- thereby giving you a way to get in touch with them later. Then, you can start building a relationship with them. You can also send them more information about how you can help them and special offers as well. And presto -- the casual surfer who stumbled across your website might soon turn into a real live customer.

How to Upsell a Customer and Make More Revenue From Every Sale - 3 Quick Tips

There is a great deal of money being left on the table after a sale because of a lack of understand surrounding upselling. This article shares with you tips on how to upsell a customer and make more revenue from each sale.

Upselling is simply offering an additional product or service to a customer who just bought from you. Here are some tips on how to upsell a customer most effectively.

1. Make sure the upsell is for the customer not you. You must approach an upsell from the "What's in it for the customer?" view point. This means you have to take a few moments to consider the customers possible concerns or apprehensions about the initial purchase and then create an upsell item that meets that need. Will your customer want support after the sale, consider offering a membership site with a forum.

2. Make your customer's life easier through your upsell. If you can offer an upsell that simplifies your customer's life you will make more revenue from your sales efforts. Let's say you are selling a dieting e-book, an upsell that will make that customers life easier would be a recipe book filled with tasty recipes that fit the diet.

3. Think outside the box. There is a lot to be said for gaining a customer's trust so an upselling idea that is outside the box is giving away an initial product for the cost of shipping (this gets them using their credit card) and then following up that give away immediately with an upsell. Let's say you have a weight loss coaching program you want to sell. You can gain the customer's trust by giving them a free copy of your exclusive fat burning diet for the cost of shipping and then when they click on order, up pops an upsell for your coaching program.

How Internet Marketing Will Increase Your Profits by Gary McGeown

Internet marketing is the key to the future of a successful business. Here's the first major problem with many of the businesses around you today.

Their market is too small. By this I mean that they their market is within a 30 mile radius, or 50 minutes in a car, and that's it. They rarely market to or target outside this radius, because they consider that its likely to be money wasted, and they're often right.

You see their sales model is someone sees our ad, is looking for a new sofa (for example), and comes to visit our shop where we are presented with the opportunity to sell to them, face to face. Which worked fine in the past, but the past is over!

And expenses are too high, physical premises, rent/ mortgage payments, rates, overheads, advertising etc, etc, etc. Most of you will agree, and may be asking - okay, so can internet marketing help me?

Well the good thing is that first of all it can. By setting up an online store you allow people to check out your goods online at a time that suits them, so automatically you're open to more people viewing your goods, or even hearing of you which is a plus.

They can peruse at their leisure, and email with questions. Secondly, and this is a direct marketing strategy that has transferred very successfully to the net, you have the opportunity to collate the names and details of the people that visit your online store, and then in due course market to them details of your special offers, holiday deals etc.

Here's an example - "If You Want My Groundbreaking Report On How To Save At Least 1,000 Pounds When You Next Go To Buy Your Bedroom Furniture, Just Enter Your Name And Email In The Box Below!"

To acquire the opportunity to market specifically and directly only to the people who have visited your online webstore and given you their name and email address is by itself an extremely powerful reason to set up your website today.

Next, remember that the cost to email to entire list clients which could be anything from 50 to 50,000 can be at the touch of a button with email, and even more astonishingly it will cost you next to nothing. Now consider the cost of targeting anywhere near 50,000 interested people by any other method and you will begin to remark the tremendous efficencies of internet marketing.

Similarly, there are endless strategies for delivering and increasing the volume of visitors that view your website, known as "traffic." Some of the more effective include writing articles about your business, industry or niche that have the multiple benefits of establishing you as an expert. If you can satisfy the curiousities and problems of your target market by writing explanatory articles they will certainly be more predisposed to do business with you.

Other strategies for drawing more traffic include using Google Adwords, whereby you pay Google everytime someone clicks on your ad and visits your site. This could start at anywhere from 5p per click.

This is a very brief synopsis of how Internet Marketing can add value to your business.

How Do I Start Making Money Online by noel barton

Many people in this day and age use the Internet to find out information and also to communicate with each other. The Internet has also become for many people an ideal way to make money, by selling other people's products or selling their own products.

Lots of people try different methods to make money online but a lot fail, so by understanding why they fail we can be in a better position to succeed. The first thing to realize is that the Internet is not some magical place, that somehow we are going to sell a million products and then retire. It just does not work like that as the product that we are selling maybe another million people are selling and we end up a small fish in a big pond.

The Internet provides a cheap way of selling products and there are millions surfing the net daily and its growing. If you want to market your goods or service quite well and this takes time and effort just like any other business you have to be serious about it and know its going to be hard work for the first few years until we are a established presence on the Internet.

So let's start making money online how?

First thing to decide is do I sell someone else's product? This is the quickest and cheapest way. You can sign up with various company that will allow you to sell their products, Clickbank and Commission Junction are perhaps well known ones. Remember though everyone else will be selling the same products but at least you know what people are buying so you should at least sell some.

The second option is make your own product, if your good at writing do your own product then sign up with clickbank and they will sell it for you. See what people want it maybe that you can import items and sell them on your own website, if you have the money and the space this is a good way to go. Once again look at the market see what people want, can you provide the item at a cheaper price or can you offer a good bonus with your product. If you have a good bonus offer even though other people offer the same product they will go for your offer. Also do reviews on the products you are selling as people love reviews.

The third option is to provide a service to people online of offline you can have a website to cater for their needs. Once again do research what are people looking for? You can find this out by looking at keyword research tools or look at places like Ebay or Amazon. Ask yourself what are people buying and can I provide the same item at a cheaper price. Look in your local paper and see what people want in your area or need can you supply it. The same with the Internet can you provide what people want. One way to find out is to type the question how can I in you search engine pick a question and use that to market a product.

How do I get started? The first thing you need is a website because no matter what marketing you do, you need to get customers email address to post them other offers. Perhaps you have heard it said the money is in the list and it is true. Most people that make money online do it through their mailing list. Why? Because the people on your list are already interested in the kind of products that you are selling.

Finally whatever you are selling on your very own website is this. Other people will be selling the same products as you don't go with crowd when it comes to keywords. For example the keyword make money online, type it into Google and see how many websites are competing for that phrase and if you are using PPC then the price goes through the roof. Use something like wordtracker and use keywords that have traffic but the competition is low. In my own marketing I go for 1000 competing sites. You might find perhaps a lot of phrases that still relate to making money but unlike the high volume searches you will get traffic and traffic is the lifeblood of a website.

Just keep working on your site, keep it updated on a regular basis. Don't give up and you will reap the rewards.
